Q:
I am applying for American Health Shield insurance for our five children beginning February 1, 2006. The Web site says I must apply by mail instead of online
A:
You may apply online for coverage in January 2006 but a manual signature of an adult is required on the application when the policyholder is a child. The more problematic issue is that coverage must be applied for within 30 days of the start date of the policy and the American Health Shield product is scheduled to go "offline" in the beginning of January 2006 and be reintroduced by a new insurance carrier a short time later. If this becomes a problem, then any of the other insurance plans at MedSave.com will serve the same purpose.
