Q: Last week I applied online for short term insurance with American Health Shield, but never received a confirmation email. I would like to know if you received my application and when will I be getting something in the mail.

A: Most short term medical insurance policies provide immediate confirmation on screen and by e-mail that includes the ability to print the policy and ID card immediately or any time after online enrollment is completed. Your policy, American Health Shield, does not offer the option of downloaded policies. A confirmation of coverage is sent by e-mail at the time of enrollment. Policies are sent by regular mail on the day after you complete an online application. You can confirm that coverage is in force by calling the member support service at Co-ordinated Benefits at (800) 753-1000. This phone number can also be used by doctors and hospitals to verify coverage 24/7.
